New Shoes for 2014

I've been a busy shopping bee these last few weeks! Well, at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Truth be told, I've just been a bad blogger. It's almost the end of February and yet I've only written ONE post - and even that was recycled from last year! But I swear I have valid reasons..which include work, life, family etc....

But enough about that boring stuff. I've purchased a few new pairs of shoes these last few weeks and I am SO excited to share them with you.

The first pair were actually purchased a few months ago from Aldo. I had been looking for basic black ankle booties for well over a year and found them at Aldo in the early Fall. If memory serves me correctly, I paid roughly $120 for these. I rarely pay retail price for shoes - but felt that I had to have these for the Fall/Winter season.

The heel height is perfect. The leather is soft - so there was no real need to break these babies in. I really REALLY love these boots. I loved them so much that I purchased them in suede as well! Because I was a patient shopper, I got this pair for only $40!

I bought the next two pairs of boots at a steal too - the grey pair are leather and only cost $50 (regular $160) and the cognac pair are synthetic for only $35. Both pairs are from Aldo. I JUST ordered these today and should have them by next week!

These next 3 pairs of shoes are just basic nude shoes I've been waiting to get. The first pair are simply Steve Madden patent nude flats. I got these for $20 at Ross and thought they'd be perfect to wear with my colorful skinny jeans. My only wish for these shoes were that they were more comfy - the material doesn't soften up at all.

I got these Michael Kors nude patent leather peep toe shoes from TJ Maxx. They were $40 and decently comfortable. I've been on the hunt for nude platform heels for YEARS and hope that these will fit the bill.

This last pair of shoes were honestly just purchased so I could get free shipping from Aldo. There's nothing too exciting about them - but I figured that I needed a new pair of basic nude wedge sandals - since I wore out my last pair of beige wedges last summer.

So - that wraps up my new shoe purchase post! Have you purchased any new shoes lately?

Belated New Years Resolutions Post

I know we're nearing the end of January - but I just loved this "Dear Abby" post on new year resolutions and wanted it to share it with you. I know I shared it last year in 2013 - but I honestly think it's such a great reminder of how to take things day by day. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

JUST FOR TODAY, I will live through this day only. I will not brood about yesterday or obsess about tomorrow. I will not set far-reaching goals or try to overcome all of my problems at once.

I know that I can do something for 24 hours that would overwhelm me if I had to keep it up for a lifetime.

JUST FOR TODAY, I will be happy. I will not dwell on thoughts that depress me. If my mind fills with clouds, I will chase them away and fill it with sunshine.

JUST FOR TODAY, I will accept what is. I will face reality. I will correct those things that I can correct and accept those I cannot.

JUST FOR TODAY, I will improve my mind. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration. I will not be a mental loafer.

JUST FOR TODAY, I will make a conscious effort to be agreeable. I will be kind and courteous to those who cross my path, and I'll not speak ill of others. I will improve my appearance, speak softly, and not interrupt when someone else is talking. Just for today, I will refrain from improving anybody but myself.

JUST FOR TODAY, I will do something positive to improve my health. If I'm a smoker, I'll quit. If I'm overweight, I will eat healthfully -- if only for today. And not only that, I will get off the couch and take a brisk walk, even if it's only around the block.

JUST FOR TODAY, I will gather the courage to do what is right and take the responsibility for my own actions.

For the Love of Food

Being Chinese, I find I show my love and happiness through food. I think I inherited that trait from my dad since he always cooked delicious meals and made sure there was an abundance of food on the table at every dinner. I apologize in advance for the poor lighting in the pictures - I didn't put as much effort into my food photography as I try to now!

I am - officially - the worst blogger ever.

Rest assured that I am still alive and well. Just extremely tired with work and in much need of some rest and relaxation!

But before I return to the lovely world of blogging, here's a picture of the husband and I at my office holiday party. It was a wonderful event at a local hotel, resort/casino filled with lots of good food and some much needed ALCOHOL! lol

What have you been up to lately?!

Dressing Room Update

I must admit that I've been somewhat neglectful in finishing my dressing room. Right now the focus is to help the husband start on his man cave, so new purchases for my room have been on hold.

With that said, I DO have an update! I purchased just a few new accessories for my room.

Here's a sneak peak of what I bought and my dressing room:
